Champa
East Asia & PacificHeartland today: Vietnam
192 is the traditional start of the first Cham kingdom, called Linyi by the Chinese; some historians doubt Linyi was Cham. One reference work puts Champa's origin in the 1st or 2nd century BCE. 1471 is the fall of Vijaya; a small Cham state survived south of Cape Varella until Vietnam's Nguyễn rulers annexed it, in 1832 by the commonly cited date.
