Timur took control of Transoxiana in 1370 and led armies from Delhi to Anatolia. After his death in 1405, his descendants ruled Khurasan and Transoxiana from Herat and Samarkand and patronised scholars and artists, until Shaybani Khan took Herat in 1507.
