The Kingdom of Aragon and the County of Barcelona, joined under one ruler in the 12th century, with Valencia and Mallorca added later. Its kings took Mallorca in 1229 and Valencia in 1238, held Sicily and Naples, and kept separate laws until Philip V's decrees of 1707 to 1716.
