The kingdoms of Castile and León, joined for good under Ferdinand III in 1230. Its kings took Córdoba and Seville, Alfonso X sponsored law and song, and Isabella ruled from 1474. Under Isabella and Ferdinand and then the Habsburgs it stayed a separate crown from Aragon.
