EuropeHeartland today: Austria
Historians date the start differently: 1521-1522, when Ferdinand received the Austrian lands from his brother Charles V; 1526, when he was elected king of Bohemia and Hungary; or earlier still, from the dynasty's rise in Austria in 1282, which is the start Wikidata uses. The end in November 1918 is not disputed.
